In Dapplewood, we follow roleplay rules that differ slightly from the Furcadia Strict Roleplay rules. In some aspects we are less strict; in others, we are much, much more strict.
1- Any information obtained OOCly (In a way that is out-of-character including , but not limited to: spying without letting other characters know you are participating in roleplay, finding out via a friend on AIM or by email, or by reading information from the site.) cannot be used in roleplay. For example, you find out that one character is plotting to steal an acorn from another while chatting with a good friend on AIM. You then decide to prevent the theft, although your character did not witness the plotting. This is not allowed, and will result in a warning, and, if the offense is repeatedly reported, the withdrawal of any member privileges and/or character positions. YOU ARE ALLOWED TO OBTAIN THE INFORMATION,BUT YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO USE IT.
2- What starts in roleplay stays in roleplay. Please do not take to heart anything that occurs while roleplaying. If someone seems to hate you, and to be rather mean, that's the person's character (If they're harassing you OOCly- in whispers or in any other out-of-character way, please notify the staff). Religion, characters and magic are all pretend- that's what roleplaying in a continuity is, it's playing pretend. Don't take it too seriously. Just have fun - but remember, this is strict roleplay, not persona play. You can persona play to your heart's content in the OOC area and in certain dens (when you enter a persona play den, there will be an emit to notify you.)
3- Please wait for others to post. If you post a one-liner (A roleplay post that is only one to two sentences long.) and the person doesn't seem to reply, wait five minutes, not three seconds, before walking away. Dapplewood encourages paragraph roleplay. (We like nice, long, well-written posts!) By walking away, you're defeating the entire purpose of entering the IC (In-character) area. Not only does this deny you the chance to roleplay, but it proves frustrating to other roleplayers, who have half a post finished when you up and leave.
-On a similar note, please don't just walk off to another area of the IC section of the dream after someone posts to you. It is equally as frustrating as you getting up and walking into a different section of the IC before the person finishes typing. If you aren't going to roleplay, stay in the OOC area.
4- THE SOUND COMMANDS ARE NOT FOR FLOODING THE SCREEN WITH. Yes, yes, we understand that sound-effects can be very fun. That's why we included them. However, overuse and flooding the screen with sound commands- throwing off one after the other- can be incredibly annoying. If you want to test out the sounds, go into the IC area and go into a den, or use a silence prefix In Dapplewood, you do that by typing '& 'without the quotes in front of a command or sentence.)
5- No self-appointed god, goddess, demon, angel, vampire, priestess, omnipotent or omniscient characters allowed. If you don't wish to apply for one of these characters (And hence joining the boards and implying that you will become an active member of our roleplay continuity) then their powers will be automatically downgraded or voided. It's just not fair to have everyone in Dapplewood be a god- there's also no point in it. You can have powers- those of the elements, of light and dark, of flight- but in moderation. Also, unless you are a furry (And they are quite a rare kind in Dapplewood) you are not allowed to have any metal weapons, including, but not limited to: daggers, knives, throwing stars, swords, battle-axes, maces or gauntlets. Ferals are allowed to have jewelry and other decorations, including tattoos and small cloth items.
If you are unsure about whether or not something not listed here is allowed, please ask Springmoon (Dapplewood) or another staff member for verification. The staff member may not be able to answer immediately if he/she does not know, either, but will be sure to pass on the inquiry to Spring.
