Name: Tempest Afterglow
---Explanation: Since he looked so similar to his fraternal twin, Mistral, the second name was given to mark the time at which he was born.
Appearance: Born into a family of normal, run-of-the-mill foxes, Tempest's only claim to fame was that he possessed the somewhat rare silver fox gene. Mostly black, with golden eyes, the midsection of his body has a frosted look, with silver lightening his color somewhat. The black is visible through the silver, however, giving it a brighter contrast, and making him quite unique. He only has one tail, being 24 years old.
Background: Tempest and his twin sister Mistral were born into a family of normal foxes, the only two in their litter. They were indeed twins, almost identical except for one thing... an odd mirrorization of their eye colors. His were a golden yellow while hers were blue. Both were normal silver foxes, with a light layer of silver on top of the black to give them a unique look. Nothing seemed wrong for the first few moons, except for the fact that they remained quite small. That, however, was written off as them just being runts.
Their second names -Afterglow and Afterlight- were marked for the time they were born, for the first was born in late evening, and the second at full darkness.
But the years were extremely kind to the pair. While their older siblings learned to hunt, then went off to create their own families, Tempest and Mistral were still almost like kits. In fact, their younger siblings passed them in physical age as well, leaving before them. Eventually, the parents started discussing the problem, wondering if the twins would be old enough to live on their own once they (the parents) died of old age.
That day came, and luckily, the two silver foxes were able to make it. They went to live with their older brother, who was quite nice, and let them share his spacious den. Somehow, he had found one that had been used in another family for many generations, but had been abandoned for some reason. During the years, the place had been dug out more and more until it had multiple underground levels.
During the time they lived here, the pair found some oddities about what they could do. For instance, Tempest was running around in the den for... no apparent reason when he stopped, sweeping his tail around as he spun on the slippery dirt floor. As the tail moved around, it seemed to sweep up a blast of wind that shot into the wall, causing a cave-in in that part that the fox barely escaped.
It turned out that similar things had happened to Mistral, and they reached an agreement; neither would tell their relatives about the odd powers. The cave-in would be blamed on how unconventional the den was, and her event hadn't affected anything.
Eventually, their brother died as well, and his mate wasn't far behind. Their siblings' kits were now grown up, with mates and kits of their own, too, and Tempest found it was time for him and his sister to move out. Bringing it up with his twin, he saw that she agreed. On the same day that their nephew and his mate had their first litter, the foxes moved out, to find their own den.
Seeing as they weren't yet matured enough to long for mates, the twins lived together in the first den they found. It was much more conventional, and they liked it well enough. Ironically, they were the oldest foxes in the area now, and considered the wisest, even though they had the mentalities of foxes that were barely at full-size.
Soon enough, their nieces and nephews were starting to get old, and the twins were sad. They didn't want to lose any more of their relatives, nor to see another generation into the world. Tempest and Mistral were around 23 years now, and, as their great-nieces and -nephews began to mate, they found it was time to leave.
Seeing as time poses nothing to them, at least not yet, the foxes -kitsunes would be a more appropriate term, odd as the event was- wandered for what seemed like a short time to them, but was actually a little over a year. That was... until one day.
Falling asleep in the middle of the plains, the twins whispered their goodnights to each other. But this night would be like no other. Waking up in a pool of water, Tempest sputtered himself to his feet, only to find himself in the middle of a lake that seemed to spring from rock. How odd. Waking Mistral up, he discussed what their issue seemed to be -briefly- before the pair went off to see if they could finally find some answers.
Powers: Like his sister Mistral, Tempest has found that he has some odd, natural affinity to air. The wind on Tempest's face was one of his favorite things in the world; there were very few other things that came close to matching it. It didn't seem like anything odd, just a coincidence that it happened to work out with their name, at first.
Then, when they moved into the multi-leveled den that his brother had procured, the two started experiencing odd things. It seemed that they were growing into some unnatural powers, such as controlling air. Tempest's first experience was blasting a wall; something that he almost didn't escape from. Hers was an extremely long jump that carried her away from a potentially dangerous situation.
The two had decided not to tell anyone else, but they kept practicing. Tempest and Mistral can now be considered base-level wind elementalists now, though they're not extremely good at it yet.
Roleplay Post: The dawn slowly broke over the sleeping pair. It didn't really seem to affect them as it should; they kept sleeping right on through it. Nevertheless, it brought a beautiful scene with it, reflecting off of the surface of the softly trickling water, and also giving a sheen to the dew-covered grasses all around.
In fact... the water was a little odd, considering they had fallen asleep in a meadow with no water for almost a mile. And... the warmth that started to radiate from the stone underneath his body was the first thing to awaken Tempest. His first thought just so happened to be: why am I wet?
Opening his eyes, the fox found that water rushed in, and jumped up with a slight yelp. He hadn't been breathing! Somehow... they must have been dumped in the water recently, because he wasn't dead. And, of course, there was his sister, lying on the rock, perfectly dry. Wait... rock? And water was coming from... underneath it? Very odd.
Getting up, the fox trotted over to stand beside her, and shook himself very hard, trying to wake her up. Sure, it wasn't the best way, but he was feeling a bit soggy, and wanted her waking experience to be as shocking as his own.
